Beat the Heat

We're in the dog days of summer and the thermometer is pegged. Here are a few simple tips for staying active in the heat:

* Exercise early in the morning or later in the evening. I prefer the morning, because then no matter what else happens that day, I've already exercised. However if your schedule doesn't allow it (or maybe you're not at morning person) opt for later in the day.

* Stay hydrated. Drink more than you normally would. The more you sweat out, the more you need to drink. Take a bottle of water with you when you walk/run/bike etc.

* Don't forget your sunscreen. Yeah, it's nice to have a tan, but is it really worth the risk of skin cancer? For exercise it's beneficial to get Sport Sunscreen. It does a better job staying on you while you're sweating or working.

Good luck and Get Moving!

Hi Everyone

Tuesday, June 15 we started an evening walk group at our Northern Bedford track. Since we all know that exercise is good for our bodies, we're inviting folks from our community to join us for a community walk each Tuesday evening at 7:30. Our thinking is that having neighbors to visit with will lesson the agony of exercise and may even make for an enjoyable time. Of course the track is open to the community all the time and it's a beautiful place to walk or jog.
